Kilvrough Manor

Kilvrough Manor is an ancient ash woodland and beech plantation, on either side of the A4118ΒΈ just to the east of Parkmill. The woods are mostly ancient ash, oak, beech, and elm with a beech plantation in the southern part of the woodland. Larch mingle in some areas. Hazel and bramble create an understorey with bluebells and ramsons in spring, herb paris and twayblade orchid in summer, amongst the hart's tongue fern.

Chiffchaff, robin, great tit, treecreeper, and willow warbler nest in the woodland and, during winter, buzzard, great spotted woodpecker and woodcock are regular visitors.

The Wildlife Trust purchased a 999 year lease for the woodland in March 1988 with grant and sponsorship aid. The woodland is also part of the Gower Ash Woods Special Area of Conservation.

Access to the wood is only permissable on the southern side of the A4118 road, via the by-way Norton Lane, leading to Pennard Drive, where the footpaths follow the southern boundary and cross the south western part of the woods.
