Geocaching in Gower

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game being played around the world by tourists and explorers.  The game uses GPS devices and mobile phones with GPS capabilities to help you find, log or even create your own secret hidden capsules within the countryside and urban landscape.

To participate fully in Geocaching you need to sign up for a free Geocaching account and use the tools on the Geocaching.com website to locate and store the caches you would like to find in your GPS device.

When you start to find Geocaches you always need to read the guidance fully on the Geocache page and when searching for the location be wary of any associated hazards such as tides or terrain.  Geocaching is only successful for the community if you follow the rules and guidance:

  1. If you take something from the geocache (or cache), leave something of equal or greater value.
  2. Write about your find in the cache logbook.
  3. Make sure you hide the cache back in its original location so Geocachers can find it but non-Geocachers won't spot it.
  4. Log your experience at www.geocaching.com.
